The Beginner Foundations Series is a two-session learning path designed to give new players a confident, well-supported start in American Mahjong. We move at a comfortable pace, beginning with the fundamentals in Mahjong 101 and building on them in Mahjong 102 so you leave with a solid foundation for continued play. And when you're ready to keep practicing, you'll have a place to continue — with Guided Play, Open Play, and an active Mahjong community right here at Central MA Mahjong. Your registration includes the official National Mah Jongg League card, all materials, and a welcoming, small-group environment in our cozy Grafton studio. No prior experience is needed — just curiosity and a willingness to learn. What’s included: 🀄️Mahjong 101: Tiles, suits, structure, and how the game works 🀄️Mahjong 102: Strategy, reading the card, and guided practice 🀄️Official NMJL card (required for American Mahjong) 🀄️All materials provided 🀄️Small‑group, women‑centered learning environment in our cozy Grafton studio 🀄️ A clear next step for continued practice and play This series is the best place to begin if you’re new to the game or returning after a long break. Central MA Mahjong League — Season One The Inaugural Season • Fall 2026 The Central MA Mahjong League is a six-week season of organized American Mahjong play with friendly competition, rotating tables, weekly standings, and plenty of the warm, social atmosphere you already know from Central MA Mahjong. Players earn points throughout the season, watch the standings develop from week to week, and compete for Season One awards—all while enjoying six Thursday evenings of Mahjong with a great group of women. Season One Format: • Six weeks of competitive American Mahjong play • Organized tables and player rotations throughout the season • Points tracked each week with updated season standings • Friendly competition focused on good play, consistency, and fun • Season awards for First, Second, and Third Place Season One Schedule: • Competitive Play: September 17 – October 22, 2026 • Thursdays, 6:00–8:45 PM • Doors open at 5:40 PM • Season Celebration: October 29 • Final standings, awards, food & refreshments, and a Season 2 preview Who It's For: League is designed for players who are comfortable playing American Mahjong independently and familiar with the flow of the game, including the Charleston, turn sequence, calling tiles, and standard NMJL procedures. You don't need to be an expert—or the most strategic player in the room. You simply need to be able to play independently, maintain the natural pace of the game, and be ready for a little friendly competition. Inaugural Season Registration: $125 Season One is limited to 16 players.

Please be sure you are available for both dates before registering. Registration is nonrefundable. If your plans change, you may request a transfer to another Beginner Foundations Series at least 7 days before the first session, subject to availability. Requests made within 7 days of the first session cannot be transferred. Because Beginner Foundations is a sequential two-session series, missed sessions cannot be made up or transferred. Participants who miss Lesson 101 cannot attend Lesson 102, as the second lesson builds directly on the material covered in the first. If Central MA Mahjong needs to cancel a session, an alternate date or refund will be provided. Photo Notice: We may take a few fun photos during Mahjong sessions for social media and our community. Mahjong 102 is the second session of our two‑part Beginner Foundations Series. In this session, we build on everything you learned in Mahjong 101 and move into guided practice, strategy, and real‑table flow. You’ll learn: 🀄️ How to read the National Mahjong League card with confidence 🀄️ How to recognize patterns and choose a direction 🀄️ How to make decisions during the Charleston 🀄️ How to manage exposures and defensive play 🀄️ How a full round works from start to finish This session is hands‑on and supportive, giving you plenty of time to practice with guidance, ask questions, and build confidence at the table. By the end, you’ll understand how the pieces fit together and feel ready to join Open Play or continue learning. Registration & Cancellation Policy Your registration reserves one of a limited number of seats in this specific two-session Beginner Foundations Series. Please be sure you are available for both dates before registering. Registration is nonrefundable.
